MARSEILLES — Jose T. Flores Jr., 70, of Marseilles, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, at his home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Marseilles with the Rev. Bernard C. Scianna, OSA, officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Ottawa.
He was born Sept. 24, 1948, in San Antonio, Texas, to Jose and Adela (Tovar) Flores. In 1975, he married Helen Storcz, of Chicago, who survives.
Jose was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Marseilles.
He was an avid pool player and played on many leagues. He also loved to fish and was a great storyteller. He was a Scout leader for Boy Scouts and he managed and coached baseball in Chicago and locally.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Storcz-Flores; four children, Sophia (Collin Reding) Smith, Joe (Karen) Flores, Ralph Flores and Vanessa (David) Hatcher; five grandchildren, Lauren and Andrew Smith, Ethan and Ashton Flores and Zoey Binion; his mother, Adela Flores; his siblings, Ruben (JoAnn), Robert, Ernie (Lupe), Rudy (Cathy), Mary Jane, Margaret (William) Tischina, Jovita (George) Gaitan, Edward (Susan), John (Nancy), Gloria (Tony) Joseph, Mercy Jimenez and Dave (Rita); many nieces and nephews; and his sisters-in-law, Jean (Michael) Scianna and Pamela (Richard) Rakovec.
Jose was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Daniel; and one son, David.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
