John H. Flynn

SENECA — John Hugh Flynn, 78, of Seneca, formerly of Sandwich, passed away Jan. 10 at his daughters’ home.

He was born on Sept. 27, 1940, to John H. (Jack) and Goldie Ruth (Lee) Flynn in Sandwich. John graduated from Sandwich High School and went on to serve his country with the U.S. Navy. John had worked several jobs, some being working for the Illinois Department of Corrections, was a truck driver, worked as a foreman for Impact Die and later was sexton of Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich.

John was a kind and gentle man; he loved his family and had many friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He is survived by his daughters, Tiffany (Scott) Mann and Jackie (Jason) Townsend; grandchildren, Travis L. Peden, Dylan J. Peden, Nathanial J. Warren, Rachel Townsend and Ashley Townsend; great-granddaughter, Natalie Faye Smith-Peden; his special stepchildren, Yvonne Haas, Nina Jennings, Chuck Jennings and Denise Bradley; and nieces and nephews, Kelly (Becky) Calvert, Tracey (Paulina) Calvert, Kyle Calvert, Kayce (Terry) Higgins and Malea (Dave) Stubitsch.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Patricia, and brother-in-law, Loren. Memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Beverage Family Funeral Home in Sandwich. Memorials may be directed to the family.
