Theresa R. Holmes

MENDOTA — Theresa R. Holmes, 86, of Mendota, formerly of Leland, peacefully passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born April 14, 1932, in Ottawa, the daughter of John F. and Ellamae E. (McKnight) Brown. She married Robert G. Holmes on May 17, 1952, in Morris.

Theresa was very crafty; she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cross stitching and even made flower arrangements for a wedding.

She is survived by her five children, Terry Holmes, Debra (Frank) Berger, of Mendota, Robert (Cindy) Holmes, of Sandwich, Wanda (Auggie Smith) Holmes, of Middlebury, Ind., and Joyce Holmes, of Sioux City, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, Reese, Guy, Robert, Jason, Rick, Steve, Sandy, John, Terry Jr. and Donald; three great-grandchildren, Thiana, Chase and Treyon; one great-great-granddaughter, Piper; one sister-in-law, Nancy Fister, of Morris; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one great-grandson, Austin Kilgore; and one brother, Robert Brown.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk. Burial will follow in Leland Cemetery in Leland. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home in Somonauk.
