Louise Elias

1937-2019

STREATOR — Louise (Gaydos) Elias, 81, of Streator, died Thursday, Jan. 17, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was surrounded by family and good friend, Father Small, when she passed.

Born Dec. 16, 1937, in Streator, she was the daughter of John and Margaret (Majercin) Gaydos. She married Ronald C. (Sody) Elias on Aug. 24, 1957. He preceded her in death Nov. 25, 2008. She later married Bernard Orsen on June 5, 2010. He preceded her in death Dec. 4, 2017.

Louise is survived by sons, Ronald (Cory), of Streator, Kevin (Siobhan), of Streator, and Daniel (Gina), of Spring Valley; daughter, Connie (Steve) Spaniol, of Manville; son-in-law, Bill Grimm, of Streator; grandchildren, Gabe, Murphy, Luke, D.J. and Gianna Elias, Cory (Anne) Uranich, Mia Uranich and David (Heather) Ferguson, Stephanie (Shannon) Brown and Tim Spaniol; great-grandchildren, Samantha Harris, Crew Spaniol and Gia Uranich; brother, George (Barbara) Gaydos; sister, Helen Gaydos; brother-in-law, David (Marna) Elias; sisters-in-law, Joan (Mel) Treschak, Rosemary Elias, Bernadette Benichou and Dorothy Gaydos; as well as many loved nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Ronald Elias; and second husband, Bernard Orsen; brothers, John, Steve and Frank Gaydos; sisters, Delores Gaydos (in infancy) and Mary Ann Brewer; brothers-in-law, Raymond (Dick) Brewer, Bernard Elias and Andrew Elias; and daughter, Coleen Grimm.

Louise was a joyful and loving woman who got great pleasure meeting weekly with her ladies Dominoes Club. She loved visiting with her grandchildren and was so proud of all of them. She enjoyed traveling quite a bit and journeyed to Slovakia, Canada, Ireland, England, Mexico and throughout the United States. She even pulled on a few slot machines in Vegas on occasion.

She loved working beside her husband in the garden and happily shared the fruits of their labor with family and friends. Always an avid Cubs fan, she got to see her favorite team win the World Series. She really had a wonderful life filled with joy and love.

Louise was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Altar and Rosary Society and Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. She also shared her devout faith as a lector at St. Michael the Archangel Church.

Louise will be missed by all who knew and loved her. For those wishing to bid Louise farewell, visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at Solon-Telford Funeral Home in Streator. Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Streator with the Rev. Philip Halfacre officiating.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Gabe, Luke and D.J. Elias and Cory Uranich; granddaughter, Gianna Elias; and nephews, Michael and Thomas Murphy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or American Cancer Society.
