John E. Halm Jr.

PARK RIDGE — John E. Halm Jr., 57, of Park Ridge, formerly of Ottawa, passed away after a five-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

He was the beloved husband of Barbara (nee Sullivan); loving father of John Patrick, Aidan Michael, Katherine Marie and Patrick Sullivan; devoted son of Carolyn (Don) Winslow and the late John Halm Sr.; dear brother of the late James (Darlene), Susan (Bruce) Butchko, Karen Rhodes and Carol Halm; cherished son-in-law to Philip and Barbara Sullivan; brother-in-law to Mary (Tony Lewsley), Kathleen (John Jackson) and Rita (Pete Dwyer) Sullivan; and fond uncle of many.

John was a graduate of Ottawa High School, Southern Illinois University and DePaul University, receiving an MBA. John worked for a time at the family business, Halm Electrical Contractors Inc. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cooney Funeral Home, 625 Busse Highway, in Park Ridge. Funeral services will be Tuesday, with prayers at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Ransom Church located at 8300 N. Greenwood Ave., in Niles, with Mass at 10 a.m. Interment will be private.
