Shirlee E. (Peterson) Jacobs

LAURINBURG, N.C. — Shirlee Elaine Peterson Jacobs, 91, of Laurinburg, N.C., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Prestwick Village in Laurinburg.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa. Burial will follow at Stavanger Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Shirlee was born May 20, 1927, in Ottawa, a loving daughter of the late Gustave and Ella (Anderson) Peterson. She retired after many years of service at Libbey-Owens-Ford. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, where she faithfully enjoyed serving and had a heart for missions. She was an avid Cubs fan. Her greatest joy was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will truly be missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Christine Tompkins; and siblings, Ronald Peterson, Connie Terry and Jean Bolam.

She leaves behind her sons, Robert “Jake” Jacobs, of Grand Junction, Colo., and Ronald “Ron” (Linda) Jacobs, of Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Ray Tompkins, of Laurinburg; along with a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.

In memory of Shirlee, the family requests memorial donations be given to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 1501 Turnpike Road, Laurinburg, NC 28352.
