JoAnn M. Carretto

MARSEILLES — JoAnn M. Carretto, 62, of Marseilles, passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at St. Patrick's Church with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Ottawa Funeral Home. She will be buried at St. Columba Cemetery.

JoAnn was born Oct. 12, 1956, in Ottawa to Joseph R. and Anna Mae (Wignes) Vicich. She married Philip Scott Carretto on Jan. 8, 1994, at St. Patrick's Church.

JoAnn worked for La Salle County for 39 years, retiring after 12 years as La Salle County Clerk. She loved her Chicago sports, especially the Cubs and Blackhawks. She enjoyed vacationing in Florida and Las Vegas. JoAnn was a kind and caring person who always had a smile on her face. She was fun-loving and always laughing, and found a friend in everyone she met. JoAnn loved her nieces and nephews as her own and was lovingly known as their "other mother."

She is survived by her husband, Scotty, of 25 years; her siblings, Patty (Larry) Hake, of Sandwich, and Joe (Nadine) Vicich, of Ottawa; seven nieces and nephews, Adam (Kate), Brett (Shannon) and LeighAnn Hake, Melissa (Shannon) Ristau, Jeremy Grieves, Claire Vicich and Joey Vicich; great-nephews, Wyatt, Jacob, Andrew and Evan; her aunts and uncles, Lyle (Mary) Wignes, Evelyn Wignes and Lucille Vicich; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike Carretto, Debbie (late Don) Harke, Steve (late Linda) Carretto, Jeff (Jennifer) Carretto, Carrie (Timmy) Orr and Chris (Gary) English; her nieces and nephews-in-law, Eric (Heidi), Zach, Katie, Thomas and Mikaela; her great-niece and nephew-in-law, Octavia and Payton; and her favorite poodle, Annie.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; and her mother-in-law, Lois Carretto.

Pallbearers will be Adam and Brett Hake, Joey Vicich, Shannon Ristau, Derek Vicich and Scott Vicich.

Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Church or Marquette Academy.
