OTTAWA — Raymond John Joseph Murphy Jr., 57, of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 1, at Ottawa Funeral Home, with prayers at 3:45 p.m. He will be buried at St. Columba Cemetery next to his wife.

Ray was born April 22, 1961, in Ottawa to Raymond and Vernice (Morganflash) Murphy Sr. He married Pamela Lee Lamar on June 13, 1987, at St. Columba Church. He passed away April 19, 2010.

Ray worked for the City of Ottawa for the last 18 years. He enjoyed working on cars, fishing and boating, and he was a fan of the Chicago White Sox. He was a member of St. Columba Church. Ray was a collector of many things, especially Hot Wheels, and loved Snoopy and Garfield. He was a devoted husband and father with a kind and generous heart who would do anything for anyone.

Pallbearers will be JJ Murphy, Bryan Benedetti, Mike Dougherty, Bob Anderson, Jim Hackler and Gary Erickson.

He is survived by his children, Cara and JJ. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pam; his daughter, Melissa; and his sister, Joann Doyle.
