John W. Genseke, 66, of Streator passed away Friday, March 29, 2019 at O.S.F. St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Rev. Rodney Kreier will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Born November 28, 1952 in Streator he was the son of Vernon and Margaret (Scoggan) Genseke. He married Janet Hillyer on October 6, 1975 in Ottawa.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Genseke of Streator; a daughter, Barb (Jim) Pavlick of Streator; a grandson, Dalton Pavlick of Streator; sisters, Judy Gabriel of Racine, Wisconsin and Karen Malone of Grayslake; brothers, Vernon “Fred” (Diane) Genseke of Streator, Dean (Karen) Genseke of Streator, Gregg (Vickie) Genseke of Streator and Bruce (Cindy) Genseke of Jacksonville, Illinois; his beloved dog, Baxter; several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Paul Genseke and a brother in infancy.

Born and raised in Streator he attended Streator grade schools and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1972. He served in the United State National Guard for 6 years. He was formerly a member of the Park Presbyterian Church, Streator. He worked as a truck driver for various different trucking companies through the years. He worked the last 12 years for Luckey Trucking until his recent retirement.
