Betty (Jessen) Harte, 94, passed away December 31, 2018 at the St. Joseph Home for the Elderly in Palatine, Illinois.

Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 10 at St. Columba Church in Ottawa. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to services, at the church. Burial will be held at St. Columba Cemetery. Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.

Betty was born March 24, 1924 in Ottawa, the daughter of late Chester and Rose (Kerrigan) Jessen. She attended St. Columba Grade School and St. Xavier Academy. Betty had a zest for life and a love of people. Throughout her working career, she worked as a waitress bringing joy to so many of her customers. Betty had maintained many of the relationships made while working as a waitress. She was also a lifelong, devoted Cubs fan.

Loving mother of Nancy (late John) Thompson, Robert Edward (Dilcia) Harte, and the late Kip Harte; cherished grandmother of Karen Herczak, Jamie (Andrew) Zeller, and Gary (Denise) Wagner; great-grandmother of Miranda and Drew Zeller, Michael, John, and Courtney Herczak and Bridget, Lauren, and Gregory Wagner; dear sister of Patricia (late Don) Pollette; fond sister-in-law of Doris (late John) Jessen; dear aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, William, Michael, John, and Robert; two sisters, Elaine Green, and Rosemary Beacher.
