Richard “Dick” Fredrick Dunn, 85, of Seneca passed away Monday, June 3rd, 2019 in his home.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 6, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 7, at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Kris Zierke officiating. Burial will follow at Woodside Cemetery in Brookfield Township.

Dick was born March 6, 1934 in Charleston, Il. to Richard Dunn and Reta (Tinsman-Dunn) Markwell. He married Bernice (Hoelzer) Dunn on December 17, 1960. Dick was a graduate of the University Of Illinois College Of Agriculture. He worked 2 years for Pet Milk Company. On that job, he found himself teaching some young farmer classes and then realized his true calling was to be a teacher. He returned to the university to get his teaching degree. During his 30 years teaching high school agriculture he touched the lives of students at Paw Paw High School, Newark High School, and Seneca High School.

Dick enjoyed raising and exhibiting livestock, including cattle, sheep, horses, and poultry and was active as director in several livestock organizations. In 1986 he was awarded a plaque for Outstanding Vocational Agriculture Teacher of Illinois by Governor James R. Thompson.

He is survived by his wife Bernice (Hoelzer) Dunn, one son Richard (Maggie) F. Dunn of West St. Paul, and one daughter, Rita (Dean) Popovich, six grandchildren, Matthew Popovich, Nicole (Joseph) Dean, John Popovich, Richard “Freddy” Dunn, Peggy Dunn, Miles Dunn.
