Dwight police arrest 1 armed robbery suspect

Second suspect still at large

About nine hours after an armed robbery Wednesday morning, Dwight police took one of two suspects into custody.

Lawrence D. Lloyd, 30, of Bloomington, was arrested about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday near CVS Pharmacy, 106 Watters Drive, Dwight. Lloyd matched the description of one of the men who earlier committed an armed robbery at 1:30 a.m. at a business in Dwight, according to a news release from Dwight police.

Police released security camera footage from a Casey's General Store in Dwight but did not say if the robbery occurred at that business.

Upon his arrest, found in Lloyd's possession was an undisclosed amount of cash and Newport cigarettes. Police conducted a search and found an unopened package of Newport cigarettes, a jacket and "a long black gun," according to a news release. Police said they believe the goods to be linked to the robbery.

Lloyd was taken to Livingston County Jail and charged with a Class X felony of armed robbery with a gun.

A second suspect has not yet been apprehended. Police said the suspect is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Assisting police were Dwight citizens, the Livingston County Pro-Active Unit, Livingston County Detective Section and the Livingston County Sheriff's Office. The case remains under investigation.
