THE BUZZ: Sinbad Vapors in Ottawa closes temporarily after roof issues

Sinbad Vapors has announced it has closed their Ottawa location for an undetermined amount of time due to a leaky roof.

The company went to Facebook on June 30 to announce a recent roofing job had caused water damage inside their downtown Ottawa location at 704 La Salle St.

"We will keep everyone up-to-date and we hope that we will be able to to be back up and running very soon, however with all of the damage we are inoperable," the owners said on Facebook.

A video uploaded to Facebook shows steady drips of water falling in multiple places throughout the building. The Ottawa business was unique for its lounge contained on a giant ship as well as a mural depicting the character Sinbad.

Sinbad Vapors isn't the first business to suffer issues with the roof at that location.

The Pink Chihuahua closed in April and owners also stated on Facebook the main reason for the closure was problems with the roof over the two and a half years they were located adjacent to Sinbad Vapors.

Sinbad Vapors was previously located at 215 E. Main St. in Ottawa before relocating to La Salle Street in October.

Ottawa's Family Video store, 2725 Columbus St., will be closing on Sunday, July 14.

The business is having a sale on its inventory prior to the closure. The business hours have been reduced and will be open from noon to 8 p.m.

The store was previously located at 110 E. Norris Drive but relocated in June 2017 to make way for the construction of CVS Pharmacy at the same location.

Family Video originally opened in Ottawa in 2003.

Family Video continues to operate in Streator and Princeton.

Streator Walmart hours reduced

Streator Walmart will now close at midnight. Recently, the store went from being a 24-hour operation to closing at 1 a.m. The new store hours are 6 a.m. to midnight each day.
