Gary Lee Goodman, 69, of Ottawa passed away Monday, July 8, 2019 at his home.

Memorial Services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, July 13 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with Pastor Karen Karczewski officiating, with military honors following. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 am, prior to services, at the funeral home.

Gary was born December 3, 1949 in Ottawa to Glenn and Marilynn (Gumm) Goodman. Gary was a U.S. Army veteran. During 1971-1972 he served proudly and honorably as an artilleryman with A Battery, 2/320th Artillery, 101st Airborne Division conducting combat operations in Vietnam. His unit fought in the Phu Bai, Danang, Camp Eagle, Quang Tri, and Hue areas of Vietnam. His awards include the Combat Action Ribbon, The National Defense Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal, and The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He worked at Mayou Roofing for 42 years before retiring. Gary enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and canning, and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan.

He is survived by his sons, Jeremy Lee Goodman and Kiley (Kelly) Goodman; grandson, Jace Alden Goodman; and siblings, Nancy (David) Thompson, Wayne (Shirley) Goodman, and Michael (Debbie) Goodman.
