Shirley J. Miller, 80, of Streator, passed away Friday, July 26, 2019, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Rev. Simon Taabu will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. conducted by Father Jeffery Small.
Burial will be in Emery Green Cemetery in rural Streator. Pallbearers will be Ryan Ohmes, Zach Hoschouer, Aaron Durdan, Jeff Cox, Ted Simpson and Don Cain.
Born September 12, 1938, in Streator, she was the daughter of William Robert and Mae Lucille (Trenor) Cox. She married Edward Miller on August 9, 1958, at St. Stephen’s Church, Streator. He survives in Streator.
She also is survived by daughters, Julie (Rick) Ohmes, of Streator, Cindy (Don Lauterjung) Miller, of Streator, and Carrie (Tav) Barriga, of North Aurora; a son, Dan (Susan) Miller, of Stamford, Connecticut; grandchildren, Ryan Ohmes, Cheri (Javier) Arroyo, Cara (Aaron) Durdan, Carlee Hoschouer, Zach Hoschouer, Sara Miller and Julia Miller; great-grandchildren, Caleb Ohmes, Reagan Durdan and Declan Durdan and a fourth great-grandson due in November.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandchild, Mary Novotney; a sister, Carol Ryan; and brothers, Bill Cox and Ron Cox.
Born and raised in Streator, she attended Streator schools and graduated from Streator High School in 1956. She received an award for perfect attendance from kindergarten through high school.
She worked for Owens-Illinois Glass Company many years ago in the insurance department.
She was a longtime member of the Chat and Chew and served as the club’s recording secretary. She was a coin collector and loved putting together photo albums for everyone to enjoy. She enjoyed traveling and did so extensively with her husband through the years. She will be dearly missed by her loving family.
