Linda L. Joiner

Linda L. (Simpson) Joiner, 76 of La Salle passed away October 18, 2019 in her home.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Utica Baptist Church with Rev. Lloyd Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Troy Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota and one hour prior to services Tuesday in the church.

Linda was born June 26, 1943 in La Salle to Russell and Marjorie (Scott) Crane. She married William “Bill” Simpson on December 30, 1962. He preceded her on June 30, 2013. She married Tom Joiner on May 4, 2019 in Utica.

Linda was a 1960 graduate of La Salle-Peru High School. She worked at Eureka Savings Bank in LaSalle for 41 years retiring as Assistant Vice President of savings. She volunteered at Illinois Valley Community Hospital as a Red Coat. She was a member of Utica Baptist Church. She loved baking, gardening and traveling.

She is survived by her husband Tom, of La Salle; her daughter Paula (Mark Setchell) Roberts, of DeKalb; her son Rick (Ronda) Simpson, of La Salle; two sisters Leila (Don) Croisant, of La Salle, and Nancy Crane, of Mendota; three grandchildren Lisa (Nick Sweeney) Wujek and Tyler Roberts, both of La Salle, and Scott Simpson, of Tonica; two stepchildren Alan (Patti) Joiner and Beth (Rob) Ingle; seven step-grandchildren Ben Harris, Jacob Harris, Jessica Zellmer, Joshua Joiner, Ashlee Miller, Jeremy Cooper and Terry Austin Cooper and six step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
