Shepherd boys hoops split

The Shepherd seventh-grade boys basketball team defeated Morris 44-27 to improve to 13-1 on the season. Julian Alexander led the Rams with 16 points, while Tristan Finley had 11 points, Noah Gross five points and Deklan Gage four points.

The Shepherd eighth-graders dropped to 9-4 on the season after a 41-36 loss to Morris. Jack Henson paced the Rams with 12 points, with Dajuan Dawson adding seven points, Alex Billings and Keevon Peterson chipping in six points apiece.

Somonauk 8s place 3rd at Stegman Tourney

The Somonauk eighth-grade boys basketball team — behind 14 points from Cade Jutila, 13 points from Carson Bahrey and tough defense from Chase Lafferty — topped Grand Ridge, 43-16, in the third-place game at the annual Al Stegman Tournament. The Bobcats opened the tournament with a 38-22 victory over Northbrook (Bahrey nine points, Garin Zaeske eight points and Mitchell Haag six points), before falling 43-28 in the semifinals to Earlville (Bahrey eight points, Max Gabrys six points).

Ottawa Dolphins place third at Barb Wire

The Ottawa Dolphins swim team finished third of the 11 participating teams at the Barb Wire Classic Invitational. Ethan Farabaugh won both the boys 6U 25 back stroke and 25 free style, while Breckyn Jobst placed first in both the girls 6U 25 back stroke and 25 free style.

Ottawa Elks to sponsor annual Hoopshoot

The Ottawa Elks Lodge 588 is sponsoring their annual "Hoopshoot" which will take place at Wallace Grade School on Saturday, December 28 at 1 p.m. and is open to shooters ages 8 to 14. Contact Dr. Tom Miller at 815-434-0245 for further information or questions.
