The city of Ottawa is offering a program for the disposal of live Christmas trees after the holidays.
Local residents wishing to use this service may bring their trees during daylight hours to the Riordan Pool parking lot designated drop-off area, located on Utica Drive, one block north of the 600 block of East Norris Drive. This program will allow for trees to be dropped off beginning Saturday, Jan. 4, through and including Saturday, Jan. 11.
Staff also will be chipping the trees on an as-needed basis and at varying times during normal business hours. Crews will provide bags for those wanting to take chips for mulch. Help removing trees from vehicles will be available on a limited basis during chipping operations.
All Christmas lights and decorations must be removed from the tree prior to disposal at this location. There is no charge for this service.
