Michael Edward “Mike” Payne, 77, of Oglesby, passed away, Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Faith Church, Peru with Pastor Steve Adamson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery, LaSalle.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru.

Mr. Payne was born November 11, 1942 in LaSalle to Bernard and Marie (Ristau) Payne. He married Sue A. Maggio on January 15, 1966 at St. Hyacinth's Church, LaSalle. He worked as heavy equipment operator at Unimin Corp, in Utica, was a member of Faith Church, Peru and was a Utica fireman for 40 years. He was the “Go to Man” in the family, builder, plumbing, electrical, etc. He was a good father and husband.

He is survived by his wife, Sue; two children, Kimberly Sabotta of Oglesby and Scott (Elana) Payne of LaSalle and three grandchildren, Cherish Sabotta, Tony and Adam Payne.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bernard Payne Jr.

Memorial may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established.
