Nellie J. Cook, 95, of Streator passed away Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care, Streator.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Visitation will be from 1:30 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. The rosary will be recited at 1:15 P.M.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Private burial will be held at Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Streator at a later date.
Born March 9, 1924 in Streator she was the daughter of John and Josephine (Novak) Popielarczyk. She married William B. Cook on July 14, 1945 at St. Casimir's Church, Streator. He preceded her in death on April 25, 1994.
She is survived by daughters, Monica (Gerald) Englehart of Paw Paw and Karen Cook of Streator; grandchildren, Erika (Scott) Cheeseman of Danvers, J.R. (Jamie) Fitch of Sycamore; great grandchildren, Cody (Jori Thacker), Kyle and Jake Cheeseman all of Danvers; and Grace and Ethan Fitch of Sycamore; and a sister in law, Charlotte Popielarczyk of Streator; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters, Johanna Marshall and Florence Matsko; a brother, Chester Popielarczyk.
Born and raised in Streator she attended Streator grade schools and St. Casimir's Grade School.
She was a seamstress through the years having worked for Streator Tayloring Shop, Streator Dry Goods and retiring from Toluca Garment Factory after 22 years of service.
She was a member of the former St. Casimir's Church and the Altar and Rosary Society of her church. She also belonged to the Polish National Alliance.
