Deborah E. Porter, 68, of Streator, died Tuesday (February 11, 2020) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM Tuesday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM Monday at Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator with the rosary recited at 6:45 PM. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Streator. Additional visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 AM Tuesday morning at the funeral home.

Mrs. Porter was born July 31, 1951 in Streator the daughter of Philip "Flip" and Catherine "Honey" (Peterson) Wright. She married James Porter, November 30, 1979 at St. Patrick's Church, Ransom. He survives.

Debbie had been a fourth grade school teacher at Woodland Grade School for thirty four years, and was a substitute teacher for another ten years. She had been honored for her excellence in education. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator, Illinois Teachers Association. She attended Dwight schools, Joliet Junior College, received her Bachelor's Degree from Northern Illinois University and her Master's degree from Illinois State University.

She enjoyed gardening, decorating, being with her little golf buddies, traveling with her sisters and friends and surprising people with handmade gifts and treats. She also enjoyed having lots of laughs with her friend and beautician, Becky Chalkey.

She is survived by her husband Jim of Streator, two sons, Kyle and Brett Porter both of Streator, a special friend that was thought of as a daughter, Theresa (Chad) Lynch, Streator and her two children that she treated as grandchildren, Clayton and Norra Lynch, two sisters, Diane (Dave) Brody, Bloomington and Denice (Darvin) Kiper, Freeport, a sister-in-law, Cleone Wright, Ransom along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and one great great nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Danny Wright, brother-in-law Ronald Porter, her golden retriever Max along with a close friend and fellow fourth grade teacher, Jacque LaRette.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Porter, Brad Kiper, Cody Dunning, Craig Lydigsen, Aaron Maubach, Andrew Wright, Carter Compton, Jillian Clift and Clayton "Bucko" Lynch. Honorary pallbearers will be Mary Lentman, Marti Highsmith, Lori Miller, Georgia Campbell and Julie Haar.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Woodland Education Foundation.
