James Spaulding

Died: February 19, 2020; in Peoria, IL

James (Jim) Spaulding, 73, of Ottawa, IL, passed away Wednesday February 19, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria surrounded by his family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at St. Patrick's Church, with Rev. David Kipfer officiating.

Visitation will be 4-7pm Monday, prayers at 3:45pm with Knights of Columbus at Ottawa Funeral Home.

Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery with Military Services.

Jim was born August 5, 1946, in Ottawa, IL, to Francis and Helen (Aubry) Spaulding. He attended St. Patrick's Grade School and graduated from Marquette High School in 1964. He married Sharon Bernardini on May 25, 1968 at St Mary's Church in Naplate.

Jim worked hard as an electrician and was a member of the IBEW 176 for 52 years. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church and served on the St. Patrick's school board.

He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus for more than 50 years and served in the National Guard for 5 years.

Jim loved to keep busy in his yard. He always had a project, from his patio to his garden, he took pride in all he did. He loved driving his grandsons to school and spending every minute he could with them, also spending the winters in Florida.

Jim is survived by his wife, Sharon, son Todd and daughter Beth (Mike) Graham, three grandsons Nicholas, Alex and Matthew, his sister Jean (Rick) Less, and sister-in-law Deanna Crowley, and nephews: Dana (Annmarie) Crowley, Denis (Linda) Crowley, David (Kim) Crowley, Dean (Tara) Crowley, and Jason Newbury.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Denis M. Crowley.

Pallbearers will be Ed McGinnis, Denis P. Crowley, Dana Crowley, David Crowley, Dean Crowley, and Todd Conroy. Honorary Pallbearers are James Brady, Don Kiesig, and Rich Volmer.

Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Church, Marquette Academy, or the choice of the donor.
