Ottawa firefighters put out trailer fire near Cora Pope home

Ottawa firefighters returned to the area around the Cora Pope home this weekend to extinguish a trailer fire.

Firefighters responded at 3:12 p.m. Saturday to 116 W. Prospect Ave. for a report of a small utility trailer full of construction material on fire. The historic Cora Pope Home at that address is being renovated to serve as a bed and breakfast.

Firefighters noted the trailer was filled with plaster and lath material and the fire was extinguished by 3:44 p.m.

Firefighters previously visited the home in January for flames and smoke coming from the upper level of the home.
