Construction is ongoing at Pops Dale Gymnasium in Streator High School.
Streator High Superintendent Matt Seaton told the school board the roofing, HVAC unit, and renovation to the balcony, among other projects is "in full force."
With school out of session early due to COVID-19, work originally scheduled to conclude July 31 has been pushed up to a June 21 completion date.
Seaton said plans are made on a daily basis to keep contractors isolated from staff still working at the Streator High School building.
Along with renovations to the gymnasium, Streator High School also will repair and reseal its south side parking lots for faculty and students at a total cost of $43,000. Seaton said the lots were in poor shape.
Additionally, ComEd will take care of paving the parking lot next to the football field. They are already doing work near the field. The board agreed to pay an additional $7,000 to get a portion of the lot filled with gravel patched.
