Ottawa skating rink set to reopen Friday

Arena has been closed since mid-March

Another family activity is returning to Ottawa since measures were taken to stop the spread of COVID-19.

The Paramount Skating Arena will reopen at 7 p.m. Friday, July 10. The skating rink, which is the only one of its kind in the region, closed in mid-March after the governor issued stay-at-home orders.

The skating arena, 1511 Chestnut St., will have some safety measures in place. Visitors' temperatures will be taken before entering the building. Any person with a temperature higher than 100 degrees will not be allowed inside the building. Any people with symptoms of sickness also will not be allowed to enter.

Masks are recommended for anyone who is not skating or eating. Sanitizer will be available to wash hands frequently.

Social distancing will be practiced when possible.

The skating arena's hours will be 7 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Those hours are expected to stay in place until an air conditioning unit is installed. Check the facility's Facebook page or call 815-433-9463 for more information.
