10 inmates test positive for COVID-19 at Pontiac Correctional Center

10 of 16 new cases in Livingston County tied to the prison

Sixteen more Livingston County residents — 10 of them inmates at Pontiac Correctional Center — have tested positive for COVID-19, according to information shared Thursday by the Livingston County Health Department.

A man and a woman in their 20s, man in his 30s, man in his 40s, woman in her 50s, and a woman in her 70s, all of whom are recovering in isolation, each tested positive for COVID-19.

The Pontiac inmates who tested positive are two men in their 20s, three men in their 30s, three men in their 40s and two men in their 50s, all of whom are recovering in isolation.

As of Thursday, the LCHD has received 9,997 COVID-19 test results. Of those, 310 COVID-19 tests have been confirmed positive, 9,687 tests confirmed negative, 268 of the previously reported confirmed cases have been removed from isolation, 37 cases remain active, three individuals are currently hospitalized, and five cases have resulted in death from complications related to COVID-19. Of those individuals who have tested positive, 36 were asymptomatic at the time of testing.
