If you have been to Kimes Elementary School in Streator lately, you probably have noticed a complete makeover.
Not only has the school changed the colors on the wall and decor, but there are three brand new people sitting at the front desks. Cheri Pellino and Talitha Gwaltney are the new secretaries running the school with grace and laughter, and in the big chair is Heather Ketcham, the new principal.
“My mom says I was born to be in education," Ketcham said. "I felt I needed to teach long enough to become an effective administrator, and last year when the Kimes Elementary position opened up, I felt like I was ready and that it would be a great fit for me. I love the early primary grades and the importance of being a positive role model as they start their school experience, so Kimes was a perfect fit for me!”
All three said they are happy to be at Kimes School. And all three of them have said how much they love helping others and the students at the school.
“What I love most about being a principal is the connections I can make with students across our grade levels pre-K through first," Ketcham said. "Seeing their smiling faces and excitement when I walk into their classrooms makes my day!”
Pellino was inspired by her own school secretary.
“I have always loved the idea of being a school secretary because of the great experiences with my school secretary when I was young."
