Heartland Bank and Trust announced Michael E. Smith as vice president of commercial lending to serve local business customers in Peru and surrounding communities.
Smith will work from the Heartland Bank branch located at 925 Shooting Park Road in Peru.
Smith has more than 35 years of experience in the financial services industry and a Bachelor of Arts in accounting and economics from St. Ambrose University.
He also has completed the Iowa Bankers Association School for compliance, ethics and law as well as the University of Wisconsin-Madison Graduate School of Banking.
Smith has served on many local boards and committees over the past 28 years as a Princeton resident. He is the president of the Princeton Area Chamber of Commerce, treasurer of the Bureau County Historical Society and a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church ADA auditor and finance committee.
According to a Heartland Bank news release, Smith is skilled in building trusted relationships and providing proactive business growth support for his clients.
