The Streator Police Department reminded anyone driving non-street legal vehicles their vehicles will be impounded and they will be ticketed.
The police reported a teenage boy crashed Tuesday his ATV after he was spotted traveling at a high rate of speed down Park Street from Main Street. The rider flipped his unlicensed vehicle on the 1400 block of North Bloomington Street, police said.
The driver was wearing a helmet and not seriously injured, police said.
“We want to remind all owners of ATVs and trail bikes to keep them off Streator streets,” police said. “When you’re caught, the vehicle will be impounded and the rider cited for traffic violations.”
ATVs and trail bikes, among other non-street legal vehicles, have been the topic of past Streator City Council meetings. Residents have complained about the vehicles traveling at high speeds on city streets.
