Seneca 60, Midland 44: At Seneca, the host Fighting Irish trailed after one quarter Monday but exploded for 47 points in the middle quarters to improve to 7-2 overall, 4-0 in the Tri-County.
Evelyn O’Connor scored 17 points for Seneca. Audry McNabb pitched in 12.
Marquette 53, Dwight 34: At Dwight’s Kresl Gymnasium, the visiting Crusaders picked up the Tri-County Conference triumph behind 15 points apiece by Chloe Larson (five rebounds) and Hunter Hopkins (five steals).
Kaitlyn Davis (six rebounds) added 13 points, with Kesley Cuchra recording 13 rebounds.
Dee-Mack 68, FCW 24: At Mackinaw, visiting Flanagan-Cornell/Woodland suffered the Heart of Illinois Conference loss.
Fieldcrest 72, LeRoy 41: At Minonk, the host Knights (3-4, 2-0 HOIC) prevailed, led by 26 points from Macy Gochanour, 22 from Pru Mangan and a dozen apiece by TeriLynn Timmerman and Emily Tooley.
Coal City 40, Streator 30: At Pops Dale Gymnasium in Streator, the host Bulldogs (0-9, 0-2) were tied after one quarter and trailed 19-17 at the half of an Illinois Central Eight Conference loss.
Ava Gwaltney (15 points) and Leah Krohe (10 rebounds) led Streator statistically, with Isabel Gutierrez, Rhea Huey and Maddy Martin scoring four points each.
Sandwich 56, Earlville 21: At Earlville, the host Red Raiders fell despite six points apiece put in by Natalie Hall and Addie Scherer.
Plano 51, Serena 32: At Serena, the host Huskers trailed throughout a nonconference loss, including 28-12 at the half.
Boys basketball
Somonauk 44, Amboy 43: At Somonauk, the host Bobcats prevailed over the Clippers, led by a dozen points from Landin Stillwell and 11 more by Brock Sexton.
Somonauk is now 4-3.
Seneca 55, Heyworth 46: At Heyworth, the Fighting Irish improved to 6-1 with the quality road win downstate.
Paxton Giertz, who passed Seth Evans as Seneca’s all-time leading scorer in the third quarter of the Irish’s game with Rockridge on Saturday and now has scored 1,893 points, led the Fighting Irish with 32 points against Heyworth. Brayden Simek added nine.
