Ottawa Friendship House board of directors, staff and family members gathered last week at The Lone Buffalo Restaurant & Tap Room by Tangled Roots Brewing Co. for its annual Christmas party.
Morgan Strow was recognized for her six years of dedicated service on our Board of Directors. Her contributions have been invaluable, Friendship House said. She retired from the Ottawa Friendship Board of Directors.
Bobby Kaminski of Boomin DJ was honored for his selfless acts of service, jumping into fundraising committees, DJing events, auctioneering at fundraisers, volunteer work on its 22-acre campus and being an invaluable asset to its mission. Kaminski’s selfless acts of kindness have contributed to Friendship House’s success and the overall wellbeing of individuals there.
Marty Serena was recognized for his friendship and generosity in sharing the Nell’s Woodland space with Friendship House. Serena has opened his heart and Nells for many engaging activities throughout the year, most recently Friendship House celebrated its resident Christmas party at Nell’s Woodland that included fun, games, education and a visit from Santa.
Chris Goodchild, of NECA IBEW Local 176 JATC, and his team of apprentices were honored for their work and donation of time to the new ICILA home that opened in October of this year, which now provides a forever home for three individuals to flourish.
“We are so grateful to share a meal every year with our Board of Directors and take time to celebrate the selfless contributions of our community,” Barrett said. “It’s because of all of you that we continue to grow, serve and thrive together.
“Thank you for making this Christmas season so bright. To be a part of this amazing organization that has and continues to serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities for 60 years check us out and be a part of something truly amazing.”
