Catalina Pacheco, Cooper Corder, Aydan Radke wrestle to titles: The Times Saturday Roundup

Girls wrestling

Pacheco a champ at East Aurora: At the East Aurora Invitational, Seneca saw Catalina Pacheco bring home an individual championship at 130 pounds, going 3-0 with a title-bout win by fall over Oswego’s Harmony Evans.

Sammie Griesen finish fourth in the 140-pound bracket, going 3-2.

Seneca placed ninth in the 16-team field.

Boys wrestling

Sandwich 6th, Marquette 9th at Plano: At Plano’s Reaper Classic, Sandwich finished sixth in the team standings, while Marquette came in ninth of 20 competing teams.

Cooper Corder went 3-0 at 144 pounds to claim the title, besting Princeton’s Ace Christiansen by a 10-4 decision in the championship.

Devon Blanchard (third at 215), Colten Stone (fourth at 132) and Kaden Clevenger (fourth at 190) also scored top-four finishes for Sandwich.

Marquette had two runners-up – Reily Leifhert (165) and Alex Schaefer (215). The Cru also grappled to two third-place finishes, those coming from Koby Clark (120) and Beau Thompson (132).

Radke wins title at Walther: At the Hoger/Tuomi Walther Invitational, Streator wrestler Aydan Radke won the title at 215 pounds, going a perfect 3-0 with a first-period pin of Nazareth’s Samuel Swais for the championship.

Jesus Martinez at 126 added a runner-up finish for the Bulldogs.

Boys basketball

Ottawa 54, Plainfield Central 29: At Plainfield on Saturday, the visiting Pirates bounced back from Friday’s overtime loss to Morris and improved to 6-2 with the nonconference victory led by three players scoring in double figures.

Owens Sanders with 16 points and seven rebounds, Evan Snook with 13 points and Hezekiah Joachim with a dozen points and four assists spearheaded the Ottawa attack. Aric Threadgill added seven points for the Pirates, who are back in action Tuesday at Plano in their final scheduled game before opening the Plano Christmas Classic against Sandwich at 9 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 23.

Flanagan-Cornell 76, Hartsburg-Emden 47: At the Nest in Flanagan, the host Falcons received 21 points from Logan Ruddy (all in the first half) and 20 more (all in the odd-numbered quarters) off the hands of Riley Wallace in the nonconference triumph.

Elijah Detwiler added nine points, with Connor Reed scoring eight.

Girls basketball

Milledgeville 35, Earlville 29; Earlville 41, Forreston 16: At the Polo Christmas Tournament, the Red Raiders suffered a loss and scored a victory.

Bailey Miller (eight rebounds) and Jacey Helgesen (four steals) paced Earlville in the loss to Milledgeville. Helgesen (three steals) and Natalie Hall (eight rebounds) popped in eight points each in the victory, with Audrey Scherer adding seven points.

Mendota 50, Streator 26: At Pops Dale Gymnasium, the host Bulldogs (0-11) lost to their old NCIC rival despite a 14-point effort from Ava Gwaltney and five points courtesy of Leah Krohe.

Fieldcrest 43, Cissna Park 41: At the St. Joe-Ogden Shootout, the Knights (4-5) picked up the victory led by Macy Gochanour’s 25 points and 15 more provided by Pru Mangan.
