Ficek Electric and Communication Systems in La Salle has been awarded a multimillion dollar, five-year contract with the state of Illinois, the company said in a Monday news release.
As part of this contract, Ficek Electric will add new positions to meet the increased demand, according to the release.
Ficek Electric is a provider of low-voltage wiring and installation services and a union contractor affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
This partnership will see Ficek Electric responsible for all low-voltage network wiring, fiber optic installation and ongoing support for state buildings and facilities across Illinois.
President of Ficek Electric, Jennifer Bias, said she was excited to be awarded the contract, marking it as another milestone for the family-owned business.
“Winning this contract represents not only a tremendous achievement for Ficek Electric but also a big win for our community and workforce,” Bias said in a news release. “As a union contractor, we are committed to delivering the highest standards of quality and expertise, while also creating excellent opportunities for skilled workers. We are proud to take on this role in modernizing and supporting Illinois’ infrastructure, ensuring reliable, secure communication across the state.”
Under Bias’s leadership since 2005, Ficek Electric has grown its services and strengthened its standing as a provider of low-voltage and communication systems, according to the release.
“The firm has previously undertaken similar contracts with the state of Illinois, delivering exceptional results and achieving high customer satisfaction,” according to the release.
Bias, who assumed leadership from her father and company founder, Bill Ficek, has expanded Ficek Electric.
“She has expanded the company’s service offerings to include not only low-voltage cabling and electrical service but also IP telephony, voice and data infrastructure, security systems and electrical construction,” according to the release. “This recent contract win follows numerous awards, including recognition from national, state and local agencies.”
Bias said these new roles will not only support project execution but also drive economic growth locally.
“At Ficek Electric, we are dedicated to creating opportunities and fostering a team-oriented environment,” she said. “Our employees are our greatest asset, and this contract allows us to expand our team and strengthen our impact on the Illinois Valley economy.”
Ficek Electric was founded in 1976. As an IBEW contractor, the company said it remains committed to providing top-tier service while supporting union values and fostering career growth for its skilled workforce.
