A Montgomery man is being held in the La Salle County Jail after allegedly threatening a judge, La Salle County Sheriff Adam Diss said in a Wednesday news release.

Joseph J. Urso, 50, was arrested by the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday morning after an investigation by the La Salle County Sheriff’s Office on Monday to threats made against a judge of the 13th Judicial Circuit, Diss said.

On Tuesday, the La Salle County State’s Attorney’s Office issued an arrest warrant for Urso.

Diss said Urso is charged with one count of threatening a public official and one count of intimidation, both Class 3 felonies that carry a sentencing range of five to 10 years if convicted.

Urso is being held at the La Salle County Jail awaiting a detention hearing.

The case still is under investigation by the La Salle County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and the La Salle County State’s Attorney’s Office.
