Girls basketball
Seneca 45, Serena 40: At Serena, the Huskers led 8-7 after the opening quarter, but the Fighting Irish used a 19-10 second quarter to grab the lead for good.
Alyssa Zellers popped in a game-high 18 points to led Seneca (9-3). Audry McNabb had eight points, Tessa Krull scored seven points and Lainie Olson chipped in six.
Jenna Setchell had 14 points and four rebounds for Serena (6-3), while Macy Mahler and Kendall Whiteaker (four rebounds, four assists, two steals) added 10 points apiece. RayElle Brennan recorded four steals.
Rock Falls 42, Earlville 35: At the Polo Holiday Tournament, the Red Raiders came up just short against the Rockets.
Natalie Hall led Earlville with 14 points and four rebounds, while Audrey Scherer (five rebounds) and Jessie Miller added six points each.
Boys basketball
Sandwich 59, Harvard 23: At Sandwich, the Indians rolled to the Kishwaukee River Conference win, holding the Hornets scoreless in the second quarter.
Sandwich (3-7, 1-2) was led by Dom Rome (17 points, seven rebounds), Quinn Rome (eight points, four rebounds) and EJ Treptow (seven points, six rebounds, three blocks).
Flanagan-Cornell 60, Lowpoint-Washburn 40: At The Nest in Flanagan, the Falcons trailed the Wildcats 14-10 after one quarter but rebounded to lead 22-19 at halftime and 44-35 after three quarters before posting a 16-5 fourth-quarter advantage.
Logan Ruddy led the way for F-C (7-2) with a game-high 21 points. Mason Rich added 12 points, while Connor Reed and Seth Jones netted 10 points each.
Boys wrestling
Seneca 62, Pontiac 15; Reed-Custer 41, Seneca 36: At Pontiac, the Fighting Irish (7-1) rolled past the Indians but fell just short against the Comets in the triangular.
In the victory over Pontiac, Seneca received wins from Ryker Terry (132 pounds, pin in 1:47), Avery Phillips (138, 14-7 decision), Nick Grant (165, 13-4 decision) and Landen Venecia (190, pin in 2:59).
Against Reed-Custer, Raiden Terry (120, 5-1 decision), Ryker Terry (132, pin in 1:40), Avery Phillips (138, pin in 1:20), Ryan Flynn (150, 15-0 technical fall), Gunner Varland (157, pin in 1:49), Landen Venecia (190, 13-4 decision) and Jeremy Gagnon (285, pin in 1:15) earned triumphs for the Irish.
