Serena 37, Marquette 34: At Serena, the Huskers led 13-5 after one quarter and 23-12 at halftime before holding off a second-half surge by the Crusaders on Thursday.

Kendall Whiteaker had 16 points, four rebounds and three assists to lead Serena (7-3), with Jenna Setchell adding seven points and two steals, and Maddie Glade chipping in six points and four rebounds.

Hunter Hopkins had 10 points and Kelsey Cuchra 14 rebounds for Marquette.

Princeton 54, Streator 22: At the Ottawa Holiday Tournament in Kingman Gym, the Bulldogs trailed 26-3 after one quarter in the loss to the Tigresses.

Ava Gwaltney led Streator with 12 points.

Somonauk/Leland 40, Reed-Custer 38: At Somonauk, the Bobcats came back from seven points down to start the fourth quarter to defeat the Comets.

S/L was led by Abby Hohmann (11 points, including 3-pointer late to give the Bobcats the lead), Aubrey Chiavario (nine points), Macey Kinney (seven points), Kiley Mason (seven points) and Leah Norris (14 rebounds, three blocks).

Boys basketball

Parkview Christian 51, Somonauk 48: At Yorkville, the Bobcats struggled at the beginning (down 9-0) and end (led by four in the fourth) of the loss to the Falcons.

Brock Sexton had 17 points and Weston Hannibal 11 for Somonauk.

Boys bowling

Rochelle 3,203, Streator 2,738: At the Streator Elks Club, the Bulldogs fell to the visiting Hubs.

Streator was led by a 508 series, including a pair of 173 high games, from Konner Dulabhan and a 502 series with a 181 high game from Ian Wheeler. The Bulldogs' total was rounded out by Cody Taylor (476), Tyson Kolojay (436), Austin Murphy (402) and Brayden Bradley (404).
