Knights of Columbus, Father Farrell Council 5591 of St. Louis Church in Princeton celebrated Dec. 6 the 60th anniversary of the creation of its Council, which was established on June 28, 1964, with a dinner and recognition ceremony at Harkrader Hall at St. Louis Church.

The council has six members who have 60-plus years of service to the Knights of Columbus.

They are Lawrence “Mick” Kunkel, 66 years, a charter member; Jon Ellis, 66 years; Thomas Giehl, 66 years; Herb Rhees, 64 years; Robert Stergulz, 60 years, a charter member; and Robert Stoops, 60 years, a charter member.

Three Knights joined the group to be honored for their service, Giehl, Kunkel and Rhees. Stergulz, Stoops and Ellis were unable to attend, but all were honored and recognized for their many years of serving their Council, their church and their community. The Knights of Columbus core principles are founded on charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. The Council continues to grow and stands on the shoulders of its founders, the group said.
