Two people who fled Illinois State Police on Friday evening were taken into custody in the city of La Salle, ISP Trooper Shafer McKune said.

McKune said at 10:54 p.m. Friday, ISP Troop 3 found a stolen Jeep driving on Interstate 94 northbound from 83rd Street in Chicago and attempted a traffic stop.

“The vehicle fled from ISP,” McKune said. “ISP did not pursue the vehicle. ISP utilized tactical positioning in assistance with air support to track the vehicle as it continued driving at high rates of speed.”

The vehicle continued driving and entered the city of La Salle, where the two occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, McKune said. The two occupants were found and taken into custody.

McKune said there was no additional information to share Saturday.
