Girls basketball
Serena 45, Putnam County 27: At Granville, the Huskers topped the Panthers on Saturday to improve to 8-3.
Jenna Setchell led Serena with 14 points. Kendall Whiteaker had eight points, Macy Mahler seven points and Maddie Galde six points.
Ottawa 51, Princeton 22: In the semifinals of the Ottawa Holiday Tournament in Kingman Gym, the Pirates led 25-9 at halftime on the way to the win.
Marlie Orlandi had 18 points, Mary Stisser 11 points and six assists, and Ella Schmitz nine points for Ottawa.
Joliet Catholic 48, Streator 23: In the 9th-place game of the Ottawa Holiday Tournament in Kingman Gym, the Bulldogs fell to the Angles.
Streator was led by Ava Gwaltney (nine points) and Leah Krohe (six points).
Boys basketball
East Peoria 50, Streator 42: At Pops Dale Gym, the Bulldogs dropped to 8-2 with the loss to the Raiders.
Matt Williamson led Streator with 21 points, while Isaiah Weibel added 10 points.
Peoria Christian 67, Seneca 36: At the Eureka College Shootout, the Fighting Irish (9-2) suffered a tough loss to the Chargers, who made 15 shots from beyond the arc.
Girls wrestling
Streator’s Yacko and Vaughn claim 1st at Metamora: the Bulldogs’ Addison Yacko (110 pounds, 2-0, two pinfalls) and Lailah Vaughn (120, 4-0, three pinfalls) both earned first-place marks at the Metamore Invitational. Payton Henson went 4-1 with three pinfalls to finish in third place at 115.
Seneca’s Griesen and Pacheco 3rd at Morris: Seneca’s Sammie Griesen and Catalina Pacheco both finished third at the Morris Invite.
Boys wrestling
Streator’s Benstine 3rd at Clinton: the Bulldogs' Garritt Benstine went 4-1 with three pinfalls at 132 to finish third at the Clinton Invitational. Aiden Ferris (285, 4-2, four pinfalls) finished fifth and Devin Thompson (190, 3-2, two pinfalls) finished sixth.
Seneca’s Terry and Gagnon claim 1st at Erie: Raiden Terry and Jeremy Gagnon both earned first place at the Erie Invitational for the Irish. Landen Venecia finished third, and Wyatt Coop and Chase Rod fourth.
Ottawa’s Weatherford 2nd at Metamora: Pirates' Wes Weatherford finished second at the Metamora Invitational, while Owen Kearfott earned third and Gage Cortez fourth.
