Auditions for Illinois Valley Community College’s spring musical, “Hello, Dolly!” will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, and 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, in the Dr. Mary Margaret Weeg Cultural Centre.
Auditions are open to the public, and those auditioning are requested to prepare a song with musical backing track accompaniment (speakers will be provided on-site).
Readings from the script and a dance combination will be taught at auditions. The play will be performed April 3 to 13 and will feature a large cast of singers, dancers and actors who are 16 and older.
Since its first opening night in 1964, audiences have been captivated by the tale of widow, matchmaker and professional meddler Dolly Levi as she sets off for New York City to make the ultimate match – for herself. The musical is bursting with memorable tunes such as “Before the Parade Passes By,” “Put on Your Sunday Clothes” and the signature showstopper “Hello, Dolly!”
