Streator YMCA plans to reopen swimming pool Jan. 6

The Streator YMCA announced Thursday that it is expected to reopen its swimming pool Monday, Jan. 6.

YMCA staff and contractors have been working to complete maintenance on the pool in December.

The YMCA said it ran into a snag with its heating and ventilation system, which has caused longer than expected drying times in the bowl of the pool.

“This issue has been resolved, but with this, cure times on our caulk and paint have been extended by a few days,” the YMCA said in its announcement. “This unfortunately makes pushing back the reopening date of the pool necessary.”

The YMCA drains the pool for annual maintenance in order to prevent unexpected shutdowns throughout the year.
