Reddick Library in Ottawa will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday for the New Years holiday.
1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2: Cupcake decorating contest, kindergarten through second grade. Join Miss Robin at this event to see who can make the most creative cupcake. Registration is required as spots are limited due to the availability of supplies. To reserve a spot, call the library at 815-434-0509 or stop by the Circulation Desk.
1 to 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3: Nature Journaling at Nell’s Woodland, all ages. Nature journaling is a great way to bring the beauty of nature with you wherever you go. The library will be taking a short hike and will stop to sketch and learn about the plants and animals the group sees.
5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3: Teen Trivia Night, seventh through 12th grades. Gather your friends and form a team for this after-hours trivia event just for teens. Indulge in a popcorn bar, compete for fantastic prizes and tackle questions across a variety of topics. Teams should include three to five members. Registration is required. Stop by the Circulation Desk or call the library at 815-434-0509 to sign up your team.
1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4: The Loop Group, adults. Learn to knit or crochet in a friendly environment with knowledgeable people.
2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4: Manga Club, seven through 12th graders. Get together to talk about favorite Mangas (and the amine series they’ve inspired.) Join the library to meet fellow fans. This month, come ready to battle it out in trivia.
