Streator library to host laser tag, New Years countdown, tea party

Events set the week of Dec. 30

The dome and mural restoration project at the Streator Public Library is two thirds of the way complete. Mural restoration is ongoing.

Laser tag will be returning Friday, Jan. 3, to the Streator Public Library.

The event from 5 to 6 p.m. is geared for children. Registration is required at https://www.streatorpubliclibrary.org/

The library, 130 S. Park St., will continue its party hat scavenger hunt the week of Dec. 30.

The library will celebrate New Years with a countdown party for children 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31. Ring in the New Year at noon at the library for children who don’t stay up until midnight.

1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31: New Years Movie Matine, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” public.

Wednesday, Jan. 1: Library closed for New Years Day.

10 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2: Playful pages, for children 4 and younger. A toddler playdate hosted in the library.

4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2: Link Up, teens. A teen outlet/discussion group that covers everything from comedy, trivia and pop culture. Talk about your favorite topics and learn about some new ones.

6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2: Painting Academy, teens/adults. Learn the basics of drawing with artist Nate.

1 to 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3: Tech Talk, public. An open opportunity for patrons to come in and ask tech based questions to tech savvy people.

3 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4: Masquerade Tea party, public. The library is hosting a fancy masquerade tea party. Dust off your best clothes and find a cool mask. Bring a guest and enjoy some tea, cookies and party games.
