Hall, BV girls wrap up Warkins Classic with wins: BCR Monday Roundup

GIRLS BASKETBALL

The Bureau Valley Storm and Hall girls basketball teams finished up the Warkins Memorial Classic at Prophetstown with victories on the final day of the tournament on Monday.

The Bureau Valley rivals will open up the New Year meeting at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Storm Cellar.

Hall 39, Stark County 32: The Red Devils ended the tournament on a high note with a come-from-behind win over the Rebels. Hall trailed most of the game before going on a 15-0 run at the end of the third quarter into the fourth quarter to go up 12.

All-tournament selection Ella Sterling led the Red Devils with 16 points. Charlie Pellegrini had eight points with Kennedy Wozniak, Natalia Zamora and
Caroline Morris adding four each and Ava Delphi three.

The Red Devils finished the tournament at 3-1, improving to 9-4 heading into the New Year.

Bureau Valley 40, Morrison 20: The Storm jumped out to a 25-5 lead in the first half on the way to victory over the Fillies in the tournament finale.

Ten players scored, led by Kadyn Haage with 11 points, Brynley Doty and Brooke Helms with six points each and Libby Endress and Bella Birkey with five points apiece.

GIRLS WRESTLING

At Ottawa: Three Princeton medaled in the Ottawa Tournament on Monday, with Izzy Gibson (135) placing second, Jadeyn Klingenberg (125) third and Rylee Backes (100) placing fourth.
