Bureau County grand jury: Dec. 18, 2024

A Bureau County grand jury convened Dec. 18 and returned the following indictments:

Toby T. Landrus, 51, of Princeton was indicted on six counts of child sexual abuse images, two counts Class X felonies and four counts Class 1 felonies. He is accused on two occasions of videotaping and on four occasions of photographing a child younger than 18 that would be classified as child sexual abuse images. An investigator from the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office testified before the grand jury. The defendant is on pretrial release.

Perfecto Leal, 50, of Dalzell was indicted for the Class X felony of aggravated arson. He is accused of damaging real estate property owned by another by means of fire and reasonably should have known that one or more individuals were present. An investigator from the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office testified before the grand jury. The defendant is in the custody of the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office, with pretrial release having been denied.

Stephen A. Bissonette, 27, of Princeton was indicted for the Class 2 felony of unlawful delivery of methamphetamine. He is accused of delivering less than 5 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine. An agent from the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team testified before the grand jury. The defendant is on pretrial release.

Mary M. Cornwall, 58, of Ohio, Illinois, was indicted for the Class 2 felony of unlawful delivery of methamphetamine. She is accused of delivering less than 5 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine. An agent from Tri-DENT testified before the grand jury. The defendant is in the custody of the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office, with pretrial release having been denied.

Hailly L. Ziegler, 27, of Peoria was indicted for the Class 4 felony of unlawful possession of a credit/debit card. She is accused of obtaining possession of a credit/debit card that belonged to another person without the consent of that person. A sergeant from the Princeton Police Department testified before the grand jury. The defendant is on pretrial release.

Cristobal Deras-Alvarez, 58, of Rupert, Idaho, was indicted for two Class X felonies for controlled substance trafficking and the other for unlawful possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance (cocaine). He is accused of possessing and bringing 900 or more grams of cocaine into Illinois with the intent to deliver. An agent from Tri-DENT testified before the grand jury. The defendant is in the custody of the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office, with pretrial release having been denied.

These indictments were presented to the grand jury by Bureau County State’s Attorney Daniel C. Anderson, First Assistant State’s Attorney Donna J. Engels and Assistant State’s Attorney William Brozovich. The indictments were returned before Judge Geno Caffarini and Judge James Andreoni. There was one case suppressed.

These indictments are only accusations against the defendants. They are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
