La Salle committee to meet Jan. 9 about potential grant opportunity

La Salle will be having an Economic Development Committee meeting at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, at City Hall, 745 Second St., to discuss a potential grant opportunity.

Economic Development Director Curt Bedei said he would answer questions about The River Edge Redevelopment Zone Program.

According to the website, RERZ helps revive and redevelop environmentally challenged properties adjacent to rivers in Illinois.

Bedei said he is looking for permission to move forward with the RERZ grant.

The economic development committee will also be discussing the Illinois Finance Authority-PACE program, Bedei said. Under the IFA PACE Program, counties and municipalities can avoid using their own time and resources to issue bonds or notes to fund PACE Projects, the IFA’s website said.
