Serena 57, Dwight 53: At the United Center in Chicago, the Huskers (8-8) led the Trojans 14-13 after one quarter, 29-24 at halftime and 44-40 heading to the fourth quarter in the victory.

Newark 77, Leland 49: At Leland, the Norsemen improved to 4-0 in Little Ten Conference play and 7-6 overall with the win over the Panthers (7-7, 2-3).

Newark was led by Dylan Long (22 points, eight rebounds) and Payton Wills (20 points, nine steals). Reggie Chapman posted nine points and 13 assists, while Cody Kulbartz had 10 points and nine rebounds.

Girls basketball

Roanoke-Benson 49, Marquette 45: At Roanoke, the Crusaders (9-7, 5-2) dropped the Tri-County Conference contest to the co-league leading Rockets.

Marquette was led by Kaitlyn Davis (16 points, six rebounds, four blocks), Chloe Larson (11 points, five rebounds) and Kelsey Cuchra (six points, 12 rebounds).

Manteno 51, Newark 20: At Manteno, the Norsemen fell on the road to the unbeaten Panthers.

Eureka 66, Fieldcrest 32: At Minonk, the Knights fell to 10-7 overall and 4-2 in the Heart of Illinois Conference with the loss to the Hornets.

Pru Mangan had 11 points and Macy Gochanour 10 for Fieldcrest.

Boys bowling

Mendota 3,204, Ottawa 3,098: At Mendota Elks Club, the Pirates fell short to the Trojans despite a 559 series and 233 high game from Cash Fowler.

Will Znaniecki added a 550 series and Corwin Diaz a high game of 211 for Ottawa.
