If you travel through Mendota, watch for signage changes at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Eighth Street.

Monday, the Mendota City Council approved recommendations by the Mendota Police Department following a traffic study at that corner.

Police decided it would be safer if the yield signs were replaced with stop signs. The council agreed and northbound and southbound motorists soon will be required to stop.

Motorists are advised to stay alert.
