La Salle completes inspection of Maytag building, Kaskaskia Hotel

No timetable for when reports to be shared, but official says it will be in timely manner

Nick Fox, CL Enterprises Vice President of Construction and Development holds the door open for others at the entrance of the former Maytag building on the corner of First Street and Joliet Streets on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025 downtown La Salle. CL Enterprises and La Salle City officials met together for an inspection of the Maytag and Kaskaskia buildings.

The city of La Salle has completed its inspections at two CL Real Estate Development properties on Wednesday morning, Building Inspector Dennis Hocking said in an email.

The former Kaskaskia Hotel and Maytag building was toured Wednesday by Hocking, Special Counsel Sheryl Churney, City Engineer Brian Brown, Fire Chief Jerry Janick and representatives from CL Real Estate.

“CL Real Estate fully cooperated with the inspections of both properties,” Hocking said in the email. “City representatives gathered data and will be preparing reports for the City Council.”

Hockings didn’t say when the reports would be presented to council- just that it would be done in a timely manner.

Shaw Local contacted CL Real Estate Development for comment on the inspection and has not received a response as of late Wednesday afternoon.

La Salle inspected the buildings in the summer of 2022.
