Man rescued from Illinois River near Spring Valley by barge coworkers

A barge worker fell Thursday into the Illinois River near Spring Valley and was rescued by coworkers, the Spring Valley Fire Department said.

Many resources were requested before firefighters arrived. The man was treated by firefighters and 10/33 Ambulance before being taken to OSF St. Elizabeth in Peru. All other resources were cancelled, the fire department said.
